Hartford, CT. December 1999...Qualtech Systems, Inc. announces the release of TEAMS 5.0. TEAMS is part of a software tool set created for test sequencing and design-for-testability analysis of large complex systems and products. TEAMS combines powerful multi-signal flow-graph modeling with information theory-AI algorithms to generate near-optimal diagnostic strategies for the Unit Under Test (UUT) or System Under Test (SUT). TEAMS can be used on Windows 95/98 and Windows NT 4.0/3.51 operating systems.

Complex systems and products that can easily be accommodated by TEAMS include but are not limited to: Aircraft, Communication Networks, Electronic Equipment and Transportation Systems.

TEAMS software provides an easy-to-use method for modeling a system or product and performing automated testability, reliability and maintainability analysis. Using TEAMS, models are either imported or created on the easy-to-use Graphics User Interface (GUI).

The model can be at any level--component, module, Line Replaceable Item (LRI), subsystem, or system. The outputs (analysis) from the tool provide (Fault Detection/Fault Isolation (FD/FI) predictions, fault isolation ambiguity groups, undetected faults, unused tests, etc. TEAMS also provide Failure Modes, Effects, and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), reliability predictions, test strategy trees and Test Program Set (TPS) engineering support. This tool allows concurrent engineering by providing the engineer a method to model and access the design as it evolves - - no longer does he/she have to wait for FMECA to start analysis and design influence.

The model based diagnostic strategies generated by TEAMS assure that the calculated testability figures of merit for the system are achieved. Therefore, Test Program Set (TPS) generation is no longer a hit-or-miss proposition. Extensive validation via simulation provides the confidence that a high quality TPS has indeed been generated. Once developed, the models populate libraries to support re-use and long term maintenance to save costs for future up grades and maintenance.

TEAMS Tool Set

TEAMS - Testability, Engineering and Maintenance System

TEAMS-RT - "RT"- Real Time Diagnosis: Ultra-fast inferencing, Embedded diagnostics and prognostics, Dynamic model tracks system mode changes

TEAMATE - TEAMS-Model-based reasoner for interface to Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs). JAVA/CORBA for networked diagnostics. TEAMATE will dynamically adjust the troubleshooting strategy based on maintenance resource constraints and technical skill level.

TEAM-KB - "KB" - Knowledge Base provides a database structure that captures models, configuration of data, test results, etc.

Achievements Overview

Utilizing TEAMS, a 66% cost savings was achieved in the TPS development of a JTIDS receiver-synthesizer board. The TEAMS diagnostic strategy achieved better fault isolation with fewer tests (211 versus 568) than the original manually-designed test program. Using TEAMS, Sikorsky Aircraft achieved a four-fold reduction in diagnostic costs for the anti-collision light control system of the Sea Hawk helicopter.
